DANIEL D. RIVERS, Co-founder, Chairman, and Chief Executive Officer Dr. Rivers has over 40 years of experience in the research, design, management and execution of commercial and military EV programs. Dan was a Tier 1 program manager for the GM EV1 Electric Car, responsible for the development of the power controller and the inductive charger. He co-founded Systronix Corporation, which today is a successful provider of hybrid and electric drive trains under the name Enova Systems. Dan also co-founded Compact Power Inc. to develop hybrid electric vehicle battery packs, which was acquired by LG Chem and led to the LG-GM contract for the Chevrolet Volt battery pack. Dr. Rivers is a thought leader in the EV space, frequently speaking to industry groups and working with academics throughout the EV field. He earned his Ph.D. in Mathematics at the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA).
CHRISTOPHER J. GROESBECK, President and Director of Business Development Mr. Groesbeck began his career working with Dr. Rivers in the EV industry as Business Manager at Compact Power Inc. Following the sale of CPI to LG Chem, Chris managed CPI’s office in Troy, Michigan, initially establishing CPI’s human resources and finance departments. He subsequently was primarily responsible for the development and sale of CPI battery pack systems currently used in many hybrid medium duty truck applications, and he co-managed the GM quote process for the Chevy Volt battery pack. Chris lived in China for 10 years and speaks Chinese fluently. He earned his MBA at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs (UCCS).
PAUL KAPLAN, Vice President, Strategic Development Mr. Kaplan has responsibility for developing and maintaining high level relationships with enterprise customers, key vendors and other strategic business partners. He is also AEV’s primary liaison with the company’s outside professional advisors including legal and accounting, as well as with the company’s investors. Before joining AEV, Paul spent five years investing, advising, and providing services to a number of early stage companies. Prior to that, Paul was a transactional attorney, advising his public and private clients' executive management teams on a variety of legal matters including mergers and acquisitions, business relationships, financing, and general corporate matters. He is a graduate of the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, and from Boston University School of Law.
BRUCE G. JOHNSON, Co-founder, Chief Technology Officer Dr. Johnson has primary responsibility for the development of EV technology for the company. Bruce was a co-founder of SatCon Technology Corporation, where he headed the Dynamics Systems and Control Division. He also worked at Mechtronics and at Sturman Industries before joining Compact Power Inc. as Director of Engineering, later becoming CPI’s Chief Technology Officer. Dr. Johnson also directs engineering programs at NAVSYS Corporation in Colorado Springs. He earned his D.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
DAVID L. HENDERSON, Director of Engineering Mr. Henderson is responsible for supervising the engineering of the company’s A6.7c electric shuttle bus. He was a Power Systems Engineer at Sustainable Automation LLC and a Project Scientist at TRC Inc. Dave joined the CPI Electric Racer program in 2003, helping win the EV record in the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb that year. He has been working with Dr. Rivers since. Dave earned his MS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Colorado at Boulder.
